Follow the Yellow Brick Path. Or, Maybe the Natural Stone Walkway?

There seems to be a magical charm about having a walkway through a garden or around your home. Whether it leads to a wishing well or the garage, there is just something about following the yellow brick path or a natural stone walkway.

If you are looking at doing some upgrade landscaping around your home, creating a path from any Point A to any Point B, and beyond, will give your home a bit of a magical charm that will draw the attention of visitors and make your home stand out from your neighbors.

Choices of stone vary and depending on the landscape of your lawn, the purpose of the path, and what look you are trying to achieve, helps to make the decision on what type you should get.

Flagstone: This is a natural stone that is broken and fractured to create sections that are broad and flat. A good quality flagstone is very hard and very smooth. The edge of the flagstone will tell you the quality of the stone. Flagstones are made of limestone, marble, slate, and sandstone.

Natural Shape Stones: For an old-fashioned look of a cobblestone path, these are what you need. They create a nostalgic look and are sometimes mixed with Mexican pebbles or salmon stone to create a more dynamic design.

Pavers: These are mass manufactured to simulate a stone veneer to achieve a natural look of stone, but is more affordable. They come in a variety of shapes and different sizes.

Brick: Brick is probably one of the oldest ways of dressing up a pathway through a garden. You can even paint them yellow to recreate your yellow brick road!
